Chesneys – Special Materials Collection
A collection of rare and beautiful natural marbles for the manufacture of fireplaces.
Chesneys have assembled a selection of beautiful marbles in response to the growing popularity of rare and unusual materials in the design of fireplaces, The are chosen carefully for their wide range of colour and striation, to form The Special materials Collection.
These marbles range in appearance from the jewel-rich tones of Breche de Vendomme and Anatolian Lilac to the timeless monochromatic hues of Pele Tigre and Turchino Striato.
As no two blocks of marble from the one quarry are ever the same. A fireplace commissioned from the Chesneys Special Materials Collection will be both unique in its appearance and will provide a striking and sophisticated focus in the design of any room.
Any fire surround in the Chesneys range can be fabricated to order from these special materials. Included (to the left) are a series of images of some of the more architectural designs that they offer. They provide an ideal canvass to display these beautiful materials.
Also included are images of the stocked materials for which pricing is readily available.
These are the materials that Chesneys work in and they are naturally beautiful. But please remember that every block of stone or marble is unique. These images are only intended as a guide to the appearance of the material in question. From time to time some of the rarer marbles may not be available from the quarry so supply cannot always be guaranteed.

ALCHEMY RB700, RB1000 & RB1500
The Alchemy Bioethanol collection also includes linear ribbon burners in three sizes. These are a perfect design feature for a contemporary interior and can be installed in a number of ways.
The three units measure 700mm, 1000mm and 1500mm in length and all produce mesmerising flame patterns.
Each burner is supplied with an anti-reflective glass upstand anchored to the top plate, which protects the ribbon flame pattern from disruption caused by draughts. The unique ‘v’ shaped aperture to the flame channel also creates an extremely robust flame that is especially resistant to movement in the air around it. These burners are very efficient to run, as demonstrated by the performance of the mid-sized RB1000, which will run on economy flame rating for 12 hours before re-filling is required.
Each model in the Alchemy Bioethanol collection can be installed as a freestanding fire that is open to the room from all four sides, or less, as required. Alternatively, an Alchemy linear burner can be installed as an inset fire.
Alchemy have taken the performance and use of bioethanol to a new level. Unique features include a patented combustion process that produces a burn time of up to 10 hours with no need to re-fuel and approval for installation in rooms much smaller than those required for competing ethanol products.
Cheaneys Alchemy FB18
The Chesneys Alchemy FB18 Bio-ethanol Fire has been designed for installation with a free-standing fire basket. For a contemporary look the FB18 can be installed with its polished steel top plate left visible and a ribbon flame effect. Alternatively, the FB18 is available with a detachable steel plate displaying hand painted ceramic logs that successfully emulate the beauty and appearance of a real log fire, achieving an outstandingly realistic appearance as the flames lick around the logs. The steel log plate can be lifted easily on and off for the purpose of re-fueling.
The Chesneys Alchemy FB18 Bio-ethanol Fire can be installed with the Alchemy FB18 fire basket or the 18˝ Soho fire basket from the Chesneys range of fire baskets.

FB18 BIOETHANOL BURNER
The EFB18 fits a wide selection of Chesney’s fire baskets. The fire features a slider mechanism that allows the amount of heat being generated to be regulated. The EFB18 is available with a choice of logs or coals. It has a 5 litre fuel reservoir with a heat output of 3.5 kilowatt and burn time of approximately 7½ hours.

The relatively simple profile of the moulding allows for it to be successfully combined with the widely ranging materials in The Collection.

The Chesneys Avebury Fire Surround is a contemporary version of a style of Regency fireplace design that used indigenous West Country materials such as Moorcroft and Ashburton marbles.
Chesneys -Avebury Fire Surround is part of the British Materials Collection, is available in Portland or Carrara Marble and comes in a range of colours.
We have used Moorcroft Cartoon marble with its striking mineralization of grey, gold and pink hues. The panels are framed within Carrara marble mouldings and the same material is used for the mantel shelf.
The Avebury is shown with a Byron fire basket from The Forged Steel range by Chesneys, slate hearth and slips.

The Chesneys Chedworth Fire Surround is a chimneypiece of simple architectural form. It has inset panels of generous proportions that allow the material selected to be fully appreciated. The panels are bordered by conforming mouldings in either stone or marble.
Chesneys Chedworth Fire Surround is part of the British Materials Collection, is available in Portland or Carrara Marble and comes in a range of colours.
In this example we have used panels of Derbyshire quarried Ball Eye Blue, one of the most striking materials from the Collection, together with English Portland stone mouldings to create a fireplace of outstanding beauty and originality.
It is shown with slate hearth and Soho polished steel fire basket.
